In a recent project at a Shell Petro Station, Denso Thailand was tasked with protecting the underground piping system from corrosion. Given the critical role of underground pipelines in the safe transport of fuel, it was essential to apply a reliable, long-lasting corrosion protection solution that could withstand harsh soil conditions, moisture, and other environmental factors.
Denso Thailand implemented a multi-layered protection system using three key products:
- Denso Tape: Known for its outstanding corrosion protection, Denso Tape was applied directly to the underground pipes. This anti-corrosion tape provides an impermeable barrier against moisture and air, ensuring the pipes are shielded from environmental degradation. Its flexibility allowed it to conform perfectly to the irregular surfaces of the pipes, creating a seamless wrap that eliminates potential weak points.
- Densyl Mastic: To tackle the challenge of uneven surfaces, Densyl Mastic was used to fill voids, contours, and irregularities on the pipe before applying the tape. This self-supporting, petrolatum-based mastic ensures a smooth surface for optimal adhesion of the Denso Tape. It enhances the corrosion protection by sealing areas that might otherwise be exposed to moisture, such as flanges and joints.
- Denso Paste S 105: As an additional layer of protection, Denso Paste S 105 was applied as a primer. This paste not only enhances the adhesion of the Denso Tape but also acts as a corrosion inhibitor by penetrating surface imperfections and providing a moisture-resistant layer. The paste's ability to bond well with both the metal surface and the tape creates an effective first line of defense against corrosion.
Together, these products formed a robust corrosion prevention system that extends the operational life of the underground piping. The Denso solution was chosen for its proven track record of performance, ease of application, and ability to deliver long-term protection in challenging environments.
